Enturoto Primary School is also a proud beneficiary of the LATF funding by the County Council of Narok. Lies on 1.6376s 35.7909e, 65km south of Narok town. To get there by road, it would take 2 hour drive through a road 150km. Most of the bridges are culverts which flush floods render impassible almost so often. To get there, we had to pass though riverbeds through the wilderness. With the help of modern Technology and GPS and a reliable Land-Rover, we made it to the school just in time for home break.
Mr Moses Pirikany was delighted to see Mr Rotiken, because he knew that visitors are rear in this point of the country and the world. His school had a new classroom built with the LATF funds and was just about to be occupied. With some money to spare after much saving, he had bought a new 25000 liter tank to boost the schools clean water supply, to be tapped from the new buildings roof and newly installed roof gutters. The Head-boy Master Stanley Ntiyani and his friend could not hide their joy of being caught on camera in-front of their new classroom.
Mr Pirikany was the founder of the school and he oversaw the construction of the first classroom which has since been left for the junior lower class. The currently occupied land was donated by the neighboring community. They hope to have an extension of the new block by adding an extra classroom block. being in the wild, people around have to plan to go to Narok, due to lack of vehicles or any other reliable means of transport. Mr Pirikany really appreciates the help accorded by the council through the LATF projects and hopes that they will continue, and also hopes that CDF funds will also be availed for even more development to the school.
The school is located on the hilly plains of the wilderness and wildebeests and zebras can be seen grazing around the school fence. It is a very beautiful site and has its own risks and dangers due to other predators that may be hunting the grazing animal, which he says the student s meet often on their way to and from school. He says it may be dangerous for the students and their parents alike but they seem to have no choice. Nonetheless, the is grateful to have touched many lives and be helpful to the children in the area.
